If you're looking to buy an International Player whose conversion from PAL to NTSC is flawless, maintaining the aspect ratio of the PAL version (if it's widescreen in PAL it will still be widescreen when played on a USA-made NTSC Standard TV),  the Jaton PSD 7611K Progressive Scan is the DVD player you must have. Specs of this player are equivalent to those of the JVC XVS600 with the addition of x,y scaling and a Karaoke feature for much less!

The Jaton PSD7611K can do most of everything the Malata can, better, including x,y scaling. In tests done by AZNfilms "nothing seems to be a problem for this player. Problematic discs caused no trouble at all. Anamorphic PAL discs like the Sonatine Region 2, Zatoichi series, and even the fullscreen Friends Season 8, were no problem. Problematic Region 1 discs like Star Wars EP I: The Phantom Menace did not lock up (like the Malata) when we played it and even Region 0 Universe Laser favorites like A Man Called Hero or Shaolin Soccer that would sometimes play or not were no problem either." Even problematic Disney Region 1 discs played without freezing or stuttering as is the case with many less expensive makes/models.  The motherboard, disc loader and even the main chipset (except for a few small components) are all high quality US goods, not components from China or Taiwan.
