Toshiba SD-4960 is an EXCELLENT region free / multi region multi system (PAL/NTSC internal converter) DVD player.
PICTURE QUALITY IS AMAZING and sound is excellent (quite warm).
It is very user friendly - setup is a breeze and very easy to use.
The remote is ok; some of its buttons glow in the dark which many will like.
Unlike other players, it has more controls on the player (i.e. menu, arrow keys, etc.)
in case you don't have the remote handy.
This region free / multi region player is also able to play many DVDs that refuses to play on other universal DVD players.
As far as progressive scan DVD players, this unit will play at list, if not better,
then the Sony 715 and the Panasonic DV67. Picture on both are good, but the Toshiba
SD-4960 region free PAL/NTSC blows them away. Sound on the Toshiba is also much better.
What Is Multi Region Region-Free Multi System ?
The Toshiba SD-4960 is a universal multi region player. In addition to your
domestic discs it will play any DVD, from any world region. Having a built-in multi system video converter it will playback on any TV no
matter what is the video format: PAL SECAM or NTSC, without the

Super Audio CD Multi-Channel Playback
benefit: Offers playback of SA-CD discs recorded using
Direct Stream Digital (DSD) encoding technology. The frequency response delivered by DSD is
almost five times greater than that delivered by a normal CD. And, up to 70-80 minutes of both
stereo and multi-channel DSD content can be encoded on a disc. Enjoy a dynamic range of 120dB
compared to 96dB on CD for an exciting audio experience.
